Letís Make a Difference This Holiday Season!

For the 11th year, The Happiness Project presents the largest initiative to help homeless children in Orange County... in the form of one huge holiday party! We will take over South Coast Plaza just after it closes on Friday, December 8th at 9pm to give these kids the best night ever.

The celebration includes taking a picture with Santa, enjoying a nice warm meal (with dessert of course!), visiting over 30 activity stations and the grand finale... receiving a gift bag filled with presents that are customized for their age and gender. Check out the enclosed picture page with some images of last year's set-up. Every year our goal is to surpass the year before, and this year is no different. We will have more stations, more food, more crafts... more of everything! Our goal is to create memories and make lasting impressions on these children.

We work with shelters, schools, motels and transitional housing to locate the children that need our help the most. The State of California classifies these children as homeless for a variety of reasons. Some live in overcrowded conditions like several families to an apartment, others bounce from shelter-to-shelter, some qualify for completely free school meals because their family income is so low, and other children are living in unstable conditions like couch surfing or risking motel eviction.

There are many reasons why these children are in the situation that they are in. But one thing is true for all of them. The children did not make choices that led them there, and they deserve the opportunities of happiness and security.

For many of these children that have attended this event before, they say that this is by far their favorite night of the year. Check out these pictures that were sent to us after last year's event. It is clear that the impact from this event lasts far longer than one evening.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!

DONATE!

We need your help in a big way. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit status allows us to purchase toys and life essentials at great discounts. But it takes a whole lot of funds to put 12 items in 550 gift bags. That's why we need your help! We estimate that (at our discounted nonprofit rates) each gift bag costs $60 to fill. Please consider donating any amount to sponsor gift bags for these children in need.

VOLUNTEER!

Become an "elf" and take children through this experience. Or host an activity station with a few friends or family members.

Click here to sign-up to volunteer as an elf at the event.

Click here to email us about hosting an activity station at the event.

We are so grateful that we have so much community support for this event. Regrettably, we may have to close the sign-ups once we each capacity - so be sure to sign-up early if you are interested.

How the gift bags work!
We fill 550 gift bags, all according to age and gender of the children attending. Each bag contains 12 items. A typical bag would contain a book, crayons/markers with a coloring book/ drawing pad, a jacket, a board game, a toothbrush with toothpaste, a hair brush, a blanket and 5 toys specific to their age and gender.

Check out some photos from last year's event!

Here are some notes we received from children who attended the event last year.

All donations are tax deductible. A tax letter will be mailed before the end of the year. If you are donating on behalf of a company, please let us know. We will include your company name/logo on our press releases, marketing materials, website and signage at the event.
